The first version of the Lascaux exhibition (2012-2023) was presented in some twenty major cities — Chicago, Houston, Montreal, Brussels, Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul, Johannesburg, Munich, Naples, Geneva, Paris — and enabled more than three million visitors across four continents to marvel at the paintings from the Périgord cave.

After more than a decade on the road, the exhibition returned to Dordogne for a complete redesign. The result is a new, more agile and ambitious version centered on Lascaux’s most iconic chamber: the Hall of the Bulls.

Tour 1

2012 – 2024

From 2013 to 2024, the first version of the Lascaux International Exhibition traveled to nearly twenty destinations across Europe, North America, Asia and Africa. More than 2.5 million visitors discovered the facsimiles, scientific content and universal message of Lascaux.

Imagined in 2010 and inaugurated as a world premiere at Chicago’s Field Museum in 2013, it has been presented on four continents, in 13 countries and 18 cities around the world. To date, it is the first and only traveling exhibition devoted exclusively to a painted cave.

Tour 2

2025 and beyond

The new version of the exhibition was launched in 2025 in Bordeaux, France, with the premiere presentation of the Hall of the Bulls facsimile. It will continue its international journey with major venues including Chicago, where Lascaux will return to the Field Museum from 28 May 2027 to 23 April 2028.

Redesigned for the coming decade, the exhibition is lighter, more flexible and easier to install, while offering an even more spectacular visitor experience through the monumental Hall of the Bulls and its immersive sound and light installation.
